ART COLLECTION - MANUEL CALVO |
|
 |
 |
|
In 1958 at the Galería Alfil, self-taught painter Manuel Calvo celebrated
his first exposition in his hometown of Madrid. A tireless traveler, he
roamed the world exposing his works which now can be found in contemporary
art museums in Madrid, Sao Paolo, or Rio de Janeiro.
BALTOS
The label whose image was inspired by Allegory of Fertility by the Flemish
painter Jacob Jordaens (1593-1678) clearly exhibits the personality of
Baltos; classic with a modern feel, portraying cartoonesque features to
convey the spirit of an easily enjoyable young and fresh wine, yet inspired
by the standards of the classic (paintings and) complex vino de crianza.
Ever since discovering Allegory of Fertility, Manuel Calvo, who relishes in
an almost obsessive pleasure in exhausting its themes. has utilized this
painting as a recurring theme in his works. Allegory of Fertility has given
way to hundreds of commentaries and to an enormous array of mediums and the
most varied pictorial techniques. Manuel Calvo sinthesizes the soul of his
admiration with the loose strokes of a master.
EXALTOS
This is the next step for the consumer of Baltos that gives further way to
the search of more serious and complex wines with longer aging. This is why
the artist has repeated the drawing used on Baltos although this time
without the use of the original cartoon color scheme.
