CLASSIFICATION

Wines classified as “V.C.P.R.D.” are supplied to the market bottled only in glass bottles.  These carry a numbered backlabel provided by the Board of Denomination of Origin and are placed in a way which prevents them from being used again.  For the “Crianza”, “Reserva” and “Gran Reserva”, the Board supplies specific backlabels.

These wines offer typical aromas from the mineral range and after a certain time in the bottle, these develop into lacteous.

The red wines are produced with a minimum quantity of 70% Mencia variety, with acquired alcoholic degrees between 11 and 14.

They must remain a minimum of 12 months in oak barrels and 24 further months in bottle, which makes a total of 3 years.

The white and rosé wines must remain a minimum of 6 months in oak barrels and 18 months in bottle. Total = 2 years.

These wines area released to the market after two years.  The oak barrels in which they age for 6 months have a capacity of less than 1,000 litres.

The Mencia variety is able to produce “crianza” wines best between 3 to 5 years.
